Phil Galfond Wins First Match of His Challenge in Thrilling Finish
Phil Galfond successfully finished the first match of his Challenge. In mid-February, Galfond was down $900k, but he took a pause until March 1 and turned the match around. The final session drew a massive audience, with about 25,000 viewers on Twitch, significantly higher than the usual 3,000-4,000.
Jason Koon, in a high-roller style, gifted 100 random viewers after Phil secured his victory. The chat was filled with excitement, and viewers were actively supporting Galfond. Phil Galfond's wife, Fara Galfond, watched the final session and live-streamed it on Instagram, capturing the most emotional moments and sharing them on Twitter.
Phil Galfond will be a guest on Joe Ingram's podcast to discuss his win in the Galfond Challenge match. Galfond mentioned that his opponent, VeniVidi1993, also had a full house in the final hand. VeniVidi1993 moved on to play heads-up zoom $50/$100 on Stars after the match and was praised by Rob Yong for his sportsmanship. Phil Galfond thanked his wife, Fara, and other supporters after his victory. Luke Schwartz initially trolled Phil Galfond but changed his opinion as Galfond turned the match around. Mike McDonald mentioned that the Galfond Challenge was one of the most popular events in the history of his PokerShares site. Daniel Negreanu lost a bet on the Galfond Challenge match, offering 100-to-1 odds on Phil Galfond's victory.

Argus RivenI've spent years at the tables — cash and tournaments — and just as long shaping poker copy behind the scenes: room reviews, bonus fine print, tournament notes. At PokerInsider I write the way I wish more sites would: clear structure, honest trade-offs, no hype. Whether you're new or already grinding, I care about what the offer actually costs you — rake, variance, and the fine print — and I treat responsible play as part of the job, not a footnote.
