Pennsylvania Casinos Ban Parents Who Leave Kids in Cars

The Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board has implemented a lifetime ban for parents who leave their children unattended in cars while gambling. This initiative aims to address repeated instances of negligent behavior by some parents who gamble at local casinos.

Two recent incidents highlight the need for this regulation. At the Rivers Philadelphia casino, a man left his 8-year-old child in the car at the parking lot to place a sports bet. Similarly, at the Valley Forge Casino Resort, a woman left her 8-year-old child in the car while she gambled.

In response to these incidents, the Valley Forge Casino Resort has allocated $776,000 to develop a plan to prevent such occurrences in the future. Since 2011, 134 people have received a lifetime ban, and some have faced criminal charges.

I've spent years at the tables — cash and tournaments — and just as long shaping poker copy behind the scenes: room reviews, bonus fine print, tournament notes. At PokerInsider I write the way I wish more sites would: clear structure, honest trade-offs, no hype. Whether you're new or already grinding, I care about what the offer actually costs you — rake, variance, and the fine print — and I treat responsible play as part of the job, not a footnote.
