Paul Volpe Triumphs at Borgata BetMGM Big, Big Championship
Paul Volpe, a seasoned poker player with nearly $10.8 million in total recorded earnings, recently added another impressive win to his resume. Volpe won the $5,300 buy-in BetMGM Big, Big Championship event at Borgata, taking home $492,415 and the trophy following a heads-up deal with Frank Lagodich. This victory is particularly notable as it is Volpe's third-largest live tournament result and his biggest cash since the summer of 2018.
The final table of the event was a star-studded affair, featuring some of the biggest names in poker. Among them were 2017 WSOP main event champion and New Jersey native Scott Blumstein, and high-stakes standout Brock Wilson of New York. The event drew 519 entries, with a $3 million guarantee, offering considerable value for those in the field. The top 65 finishers earned a share of that $3 million guaranteed prize pool.
For Frank Lagodich, who finished second, it was the second-largest live tournament result of his career. He collected $420,000 for his performance, falling just short of his payout for finishing runner-up in a 2023 $25,500 high roller during the World Poker Tour Seminole Hard Rock Poker Showdown series.

Argus RivenI've spent years at the tables — cash and tournaments — and just as long shaping poker copy behind the scenes: room reviews, bonus fine print, tournament notes. At PokerInsider I write the way I wish more sites would: clear structure, honest trade-offs, no hype. Whether you're new or already grinding, I care about what the offer actually costs you — rake, variance, and the fine print — and I treat responsible play as part of the job, not a footnote.
