Patrik Leonard Unveils New 6-Max Poker Format
Patrik Leonard, a renowned poker player and ambassador for PartyPoker, has recently proposed a new format for 6-max poker. This new format, which includes 7 different types of poker, aims to enhance the online poker experience. Leonard, who has won over $2,500,000 in live tournaments, shared his ideas on Twitter, sparking a positive response from the poker community.
The new format introduces several innovative rules. Players will have a 5-second time bank with an additional second added on each street. The player with the highest VPIP (Voluntarily Put Money In Pot) will receive 100% rakeback, encouraging more aggressive play. Additionally, the table color will change depending on the type of poker being played, making it easier for players to identify the game format.
Other notable rules include a requirement for players to discard their cards openly, allowing anyone to see the cards they folded. If a player wins all 6 hands in a round, every other player must pay them 10BB. The new format also includes ante in both No Limit Hold'em and PLO, and games will be played without any auxiliary software. Leonard has already tested this format with notable players like Luke Schwartz, Ben Sulsky, and Alexander Kostritsyn, who have provided positive feedback.

Argus RivenI've spent years at the tables — cash and tournaments — and just as long shaping poker copy behind the scenes: room reviews, bonus fine print, tournament notes. At PokerInsider I write the way I wish more sites would: clear structure, honest trade-offs, no hype. Whether you're new or already grinding, I care about what the offer actually costs you — rake, variance, and the fine print — and I treat responsible play as part of the job, not a footnote.
