Partouche Poker Tour Ends Amidst Prize Pool Controversy
The Partouche Poker Tour (PPT) has been a significant event in the poker world since 2008. Notable winners include Vaneessa Selbst, who won €1,300,000 in 2010. In 2011, Alexei Kovalchuk finished 3rd and Alexander Dovzhenko finished 7th.
For the fifth season, PPT promised a prize pool of €5,000,000, but the actual prize pool was €700,000 less. This discrepancy sparked controversy, with players like Justin Bonomo tweeting about the issue and providing screenshots as evidence. Bonomo wrote, "All on Partouche were expecting 5 million guarantee. The staff refuses to admit it."
Patrick Partouche, the head of the series, announced the closure of the PPT due to the controversy. He stated, "The series Partouche Poker Tour bears my name, the surname of my family. I will not allow, and my colleagues will not allow, people to say 'Partouche - thieves' or 'Partouche - scammers.'" However, Patrick Partouche later announced that the full €5,000,000 prize pool would be paid out, addressing the controversy.

Argus RivenI've spent years at the tables — cash and tournaments — and just as long shaping poker copy behind the scenes: room reviews, bonus fine print, tournament notes. At PokerInsider I write the way I wish more sites would: clear structure, honest trade-offs, no hype. Whether you're new or already grinding, I care about what the offer actually costs you — rake, variance, and the fine print — and I treat responsible play as part of the job, not a footnote.
