Online Poker Market Revenues Decline Steadily Since 2010

The online poker market has been on a steady decline since 2010. The gross income from online poker in 2010 was $4.99 billion. However, due to the Black Friday event, the gross income from online poker dropped to $4.54 billion in 2010. This event significantly impacted the industry, leading to a gradual decrease in revenues.

The online poker market capitalization was $3.87 billion in 2014 and further decreased to $3.61 billion in 2015. From 2010 to 2016, the online poker market revenues decreased by 28%. Analysts predict a further 9% decrease in online poker revenues by 2019. However, they also noted that the rate of decline has slowed in the last three years.

Europe has been the main revenue provider for the online poker market. The United States, which was a significant competitor, saw a substantial decrease in its market share after the ban on online poker. Lorien Pilling, director of GBGC, stated that the online poker industry can still be revived. He emphasized that the main stimulus for increasing revenues is the legalization of poker in key US states. Although progress is being made, the final steps are always elusive.
