Nguyen Le's Incredible Comeback: From One Chip to Poker Champion

Nguyen Le's journey to victory in the BetMGM Poker Championship is a story of remarkable resilience and luck. With 11 players left, Le's stack was reduced to a single tournament chip. His opponent tabled his hand before the action was over, allowing Le to keep his last chip. This decision turned out to be pivotal, as Le went on to build his stack through a series of double-ups, eventually reaching over 20 big blinds.

Le's good run continued, and by the time the tournament got down to seven players, he had managed to build that small stack into a chip lead. The tournament eventually got down to three players, at which point they worked out a chop, leaving $45,000 and a trophy on the side to play for. Once the deal was done, Le proceeded to finish the job, winning the title and pocketing a grand total of $777,777 — more than doubling his total career earnings.

The 2025 BetMGM Poker Championship featured a $3 million guarantee but paid out $5.9 million, making it a highly successful event. Le's incredible comeback story is not only a win for him but also great marketing for the BetMGM Poker Championship, which has seen a huge surge in popularity since its debut in 2022.
