Nevada Casinos Boom for Second Straight Month as Industry Recovers
Nevada casinos have reported a significant boost in profits, collecting more than a billion dollars during April, matching the $1.039bn from March. This marks the second consecutive month of such earnings, indicating a strong recovery from the COVID-19 pandemic. Michael Lawton, a senior research analyst for the Nevada Gaming Control Board (NGCB), highlighted the significance of this milestone, stating that a billion-dollar win is a rare occurrence, having only happened three times in Nevada's history.
In other news, Atlantic City and Florida are removing plexiglass COVID-19 protection screens from poker rooms as restrictions ease. Noel Stevenson, from Caesars Entertainment, announced that Atlantic City casinos are fully reopening for the summer season, offering tables with full seating and the removal of unsightly plexiglass. The Seminole Hard Rock Tampa is also preparing for a World Poker Tour visit with plans to remove all plexiglass dividers from tables.
Meanwhile, Dusk Till Dawn, a leading UK poker room, remains closed despite the reopening of casinos in the country. Club owner Rob Yong has chosen to wait until there are no restrictions before reopening. Entain, owner of partypoker, has shut down its software client dedicated to the Russian market due to regulatory restrictions. Additionally, Discord has created a poker app that can be added to any of its servers, encouraging social interaction through voice and video chat.

Argus RivenI've spent years at the tables — cash and tournaments — and just as long shaping poker copy behind the scenes: room reviews, bonus fine print, tournament notes. At PokerInsider I write the way I wish more sites would: clear structure, honest trade-offs, no hype. Whether you're new or already grinding, I care about what the offer actually costs you — rake, variance, and the fine print — and I treat responsible play as part of the job, not a footnote.
