Miikka Anttonen's Memoir Once a Gambler Finally Released After Years of Anticipation
Finnish poker player Miikka Anttonen's memoir, Once a Gambler, is finally available for purchase after years of anticipation. The memoir, which details Anttonen's experiences as a young poker player during the global poker boom, will be published in three parts. The first part, Escape, is already on sale for $5.99. The second part is scheduled to be released around October 30, and the final part will be available next year.
The memoir is based on Anttonen's popular blog series, Stories of Anttonen, which gained significant traction among poker enthusiasts. The blog series, which was initially published between 2012 and 2013, became one of the most popular translated materials on GipsyTeam. However, the series was abruptly halted after the 20th chapter, leaving fans eager for more.
In an excerpt from the first chapter, titled At Gipsy, Anttonen describes a typical winter day in Finland, highlighting the harsh conditions and his desire to escape the country. Despite Finland's reputation for having one of the highest levels of education and healthcare, Anttonen expresses his dissatisfaction with the country's climate and societal norms. He yearns for a life filled with warmth, vibrant colors, and tall buildings, contrasting the flat landscape of Helsinki.

Argus RivenI've spent years at the tables — cash and tournaments — and just as long shaping poker copy behind the scenes: room reviews, bonus fine print, tournament notes. At PokerInsider I write the way I wish more sites would: clear structure, honest trade-offs, no hype. Whether you're new or already grinding, I care about what the offer actually costs you — rake, variance, and the fine print — and I treat responsible play as part of the job, not a footnote.
