Michigan Woman Wins $500K from First-Ever Lottery Ticket Received as Gift
A woman in Genesee County, Michigan, received a $5 Detroit Tigers scratch-off ticket as a gift from a family member. The woman won $500,000 from her first-ever lottery ticket. The winning ticket was purchased at Saginaw Fuel Mid LLC at 11842 South Saginaw Street in Grand Blanc. The Detroit Tigers scratch-off ticket costs $5 and grants players a chance to win a prize between $5 and $500,000.
The woman plans to pay off her car with the winnings. She initially set the ticket aside to scratch it off and had a hard time realizing it brought her a life-changing $500,000 prize. The woman chose to remain anonymous, and her identity will likely forever remain a mystery.
Since the launch of the popular instant game, so far, players across Michigan have won $27m from the Detroit Tigers instant game. The $500,000 prize won by the Genesee County woman marked the last top prize from the game. Still, more than $4m in various prizes, between $2,000 and $5 are still up for grabs from the $5 scratch-off ticket.

Argus RivenI've spent years at the tables — cash and tournaments — and just as long shaping poker copy behind the scenes: room reviews, bonus fine print, tournament notes. At PokerInsider I write the way I wish more sites would: clear structure, honest trade-offs, no hype. Whether you're new or already grinding, I care about what the offer actually costs you — rake, variance, and the fine print — and I treat responsible play as part of the job, not a footnote.
