Manuel Saavedra's High-Stakes Poker Journey: $700k in 9 Months
Spanish poker player Manuel Saavedra, known by his Twitter handle @manuelsaavedr1, has made a significant impact in the high-stakes poker community. In March 2020, he tweeted his poker graphs showing a profit of $140k. By the end of 2021, Saavedra had played 400,000 hands across limits from NL400 to NL40k, with an average limit of NL2,400, and won $700k.
Saavedra started playing poker over 13 years ago, initially at NL2, and has been playing high-stakes games for the past two years. He prefers 6-max games over heads-up due to the high attention required for the latter. Saavedra plays 6-8 tables simultaneously and opens NL400 when there is no higher game available to avoid downtime.
To manage variance, Saavedra sells portions of his stakes when he feels uncomfortable, applying the same strategy to NL200k as to NL1k. His daily routine includes analyzing the previous day's session, exercising, and playing poker for 5-6 hours. He emphasizes the importance of not letting poker affect his personal life and maintaining a balanced approach to the game.

Argus RivenI've spent years at the tables — cash and tournaments — and just as long shaping poker copy behind the scenes: room reviews, bonus fine print, tournament notes. At PokerInsider I write the way I wish more sites would: clear structure, honest trade-offs, no hype. Whether you're new or already grinding, I care about what the offer actually costs you — rake, variance, and the fine print — and I treat responsible play as part of the job, not a footnote.
