Man Awarded $8 Million After Casino Serves Caustic Chemicals Instead of Beer
Lon Enwright was awarded $8 million in damages after being served caustic chemicals instead of beer at Barley’s Casino & Brewing Company in Henderson, Nevada. Enwright ordered a sample of Honey Blonde Ale but was served a “dangerous chemical cleaning solution” used to clean bar taps, tanks and lines. After drinking the sample, Enwright experienced a sudden and intense burning in his mouth, on his tongue, and down his esophagus into his stomach. Enwright suffered permanent nerve and tissue damage to his mouth, tongue and gastrointestinal system.
Barley’s Casino & Brewing Company admitted liability but offered only $300,000 in damages. A jury awarded Enwright $3 million in past damages, and a further $5 million in future damages.

Argus RivenI've spent years at the tables — cash and tournaments — and just as long shaping poker copy behind the scenes: room reviews, bonus fine print, tournament notes. At PokerInsider I write the way I wish more sites would: clear structure, honest trade-offs, no hype. Whether you're new or already grinding, I care about what the offer actually costs you — rake, variance, and the fine print — and I treat responsible play as part of the job, not a footnote.
