Macau's Poker Revival: Live Tournaments Return After Six-Year Hiatus
Live tournament poker has made a triumphant return to Macau with the Macau Masters event at The Venetian Macao. This event, approved by Macau’s Gaming Inspection and Coordination Bureau, marks a significant milestone in the region's poker scene.
The last live poker tournament in Macau was the PokerStars Live Macau Millions in April 2018. The absence of live poker tournaments in Macau since 2018 has left enthusiasts craving for the electrifying atmosphere and competitive spirit that define these events.
The Venetian Macao, MGM China, and Wynn Macau have resumed cash-game operations, signaling a renewed interest in the game. The World Poker Tour (WPT) is optimistic about establishing a presence in Macau and China, despite past regulatory challenges.

Argus RivenI've spent years at the tables — cash and tournaments — and just as long shaping poker copy behind the scenes: room reviews, bonus fine print, tournament notes. At PokerInsider I write the way I wish more sites would: clear structure, honest trade-offs, no hype. Whether you're new or already grinding, I care about what the offer actually costs you — rake, variance, and the fine print — and I treat responsible play as part of the job, not a footnote.
