Macau's Gambling Empire Surpasses Las Vegas in Revenue
Macau has become a major hub for gambling in Asia, surpassing Las Vegas in revenue. The city's casinos are known for high-stakes gambling and attracting wealthy players from mainland China.
Macau's gambling revenue surpassed Las Vegas' in 2013, with Macau earning $45 billion compared to Las Vegas' $6.5 billion. The government of Macau receives 39.5% of the casino profits in taxes. Licensed intermediary companies facilitate the flow of players into casinos, taking a significant cut of the profits.
Players from mainland China can bring only up to US$2,600 into Macau, but there are ways to circumvent this limit. Macau's casinos are expanding their entertainment offerings, hosting events like concerts and TV shows. Russian players Matvey "Matt" Linov and Georgy "caesargeorge" Bessudnov shared their experiences traveling to Macau.

Argus RivenI've spent years at the tables — cash and tournaments — and just as long shaping poker copy behind the scenes: room reviews, bonus fine print, tournament notes. At PokerInsider I write the way I wish more sites would: clear structure, honest trade-offs, no hype. Whether you're new or already grinding, I care about what the offer actually costs you — rake, variance, and the fine print — and I treat responsible play as part of the job, not a footnote.
