Jungleman Dan Cates and Bryn Kenney Clash Over Charity Poker Match
Daniel Cates, known as Jungleman, invited Phil Hellmuth and Bryn Kenney to donate to his foundation and play him in a charity poker match. Cates tweeted, “Hey @phil_hellmuth I hear you and @BrynKenney are talking a bunch of stuff about winning tournaments and that you like charities. Why don't you guys donate to my foundation (the Dan Cates Foundation), we may be pretty close to building hospitals! Oh and um also play me at poker, as charity/poker GOATS these should be pretty reasonable requests :)”
Bryn Kenney, however, accused Cates of “ego-posting” and stated he had “no interest in playing under 250k buy-in tourneys.” Kenney’s response came after Cates tried to persuade Kenney and Hellmuth to consider his new charity. “Umm, look buddy you won some highrollers and think that's enough to put you in top winners or poker players... that's pretty cute but don't accuse me of ego boost Mr self-acclaimed best poker player,” Cates tweeted.
The Dan Cates Foundation is focused on providing clean water and female empowerment in Africa, and is designed to “join other organizations that have been here longer than us to raise funds and reach their goals.”

Argus RivenI've spent years at the tables — cash and tournaments — and just as long shaping poker copy behind the scenes: room reviews, bonus fine print, tournament notes. At PokerInsider I write the way I wish more sites would: clear structure, honest trade-offs, no hype. Whether you're new or already grinding, I care about what the offer actually costs you — rake, variance, and the fine print — and I treat responsible play as part of the job, not a footnote.
