Portuguese Poker Prodigy José 'Girah' Macedo Exposed as a Scammer
José 'Girah' Macedo, a Portuguese poker prodigy, was accused of scamming high-stakes poker players out of over $30,000. The fraudulent activities were detailed by MossBoss, a poker player who was manipulated by José into playing against a poor player, sauron1989, leading to significant losses.
José used TeamViewer to observe poker sessions and manipulated players into losing money. He created groups in Skype for discussing strategies and analyzing video sessions, gaining the trust of high-stakes players. MossBoss detailed how José convinced him to play against sauron1989, who was portrayed as a poor player, resulting in MossBoss losing $21,900 in two matches.
After the scandal broke, José admitted to his fraudulent activities and promised to return the stolen money and pay compensation. He expressed remorse and took full responsibility for his actions. Additionally, Hasan 'INTERNETPOKERS' Kureschi and Daniel Cates, who had planned to move to Portugal to live with José, changed their plans after learning about the scandal.

Argus RivenI've spent years at the tables — cash and tournaments — and just as long shaping poker copy behind the scenes: room reviews, bonus fine print, tournament notes. At PokerInsider I write the way I wish more sites would: clear structure, honest trade-offs, no hype. Whether you're new or already grinding, I care about what the offer actually costs you — rake, variance, and the fine print — and I treat responsible play as part of the job, not a footnote.
