Jonathan Tamayo Wins WSOP 2024 Main Event Amid Solver Controversy
Jonathan Tamayo won the main event at the World Series of Poker (WSOP) 2024. Tamayo started the final table with the 7th stack and was presented with his bracelet by his friend Joe McKeehen, the 2015 World Champion. Tamayo and McKeehen met 14 years ago and lived together during the WSOP.
However, Tamayo's victory was marred by controversy. His support team, including Dominic Nietzsche, was accused of using a solver during the game. Dominic Nietzsche confirmed that he was using simplified solutions on his laptop, which sparked criticism from the poker community. Nietzsche defended the actions, comparing them to coaches giving advice during breaks in sports.
In other notable results, Jared Bleznick won the $50,000 buy-in high roller tournament, earning $2,037,947. Bleznick was known for using multiple accounts on PokerStars and FTP in the past but has since shifted his focus to selling sports cards. He brought a box of baseball cards to the TV table during the main tournament and was motivated by side bets with Sean Deeb. Michael Rocco won the $10,000 buy-in 6-max tournament, earning $924,922. Rocco defeated Alexander Reard in the heads-up final.

Argus RivenI've spent years at the tables — cash and tournaments — and just as long shaping poker copy behind the scenes: room reviews, bonus fine print, tournament notes. At PokerInsider I write the way I wish more sites would: clear structure, honest trade-offs, no hype. Whether you're new or already grinding, I care about what the offer actually costs you — rake, variance, and the fine print — and I treat responsible play as part of the job, not a footnote.
