Joey Weissman Wins USPO Opener, Takes Down $231,000
Joey Weissman has made a strong start to his 2023 US Poker Open campaign by winning the opening event, a $10k NLHE tournament. Weissman's victory earned him $231,000, marking his second USPO title after his first win in 2021.
The event attracted a record-breaking 105 entries, highlighting the series' popularity. Notable players who cashed in the event included Daniel Negreanu and Alex Foxen. The two-day tournament took place inside the PokerGO studios at the Aria, with 15 players making it to the paid spots.
At the end of the first day, six players remained, with Justin Young holding the chip lead. Jonathan Little was eliminated when his pocket pair couldn't hold up against Moreno's big ace. Weissman praised the PokerGO Studio setup, calling it a high-quality experience that caters to the players.

Argus RivenI've spent years at the tables — cash and tournaments — and just as long shaping poker copy behind the scenes: room reviews, bonus fine print, tournament notes. At PokerInsider I write the way I wish more sites would: clear structure, honest trade-offs, no hype. Whether you're new or already grinding, I care about what the offer actually costs you — rake, variance, and the fine print — and I treat responsible play as part of the job, not a footnote.
