PokerStars Founder Isai Scheinberg Reflects on His Legacy and Future
Isai Scheinberg, the founder of PokerStars, recently gave his second-ever interview, discussing his time at the company and his views on its future. The Scheinberg family sold PokerStars for $4.9 billion in 2014.
Scheinberg is on the 2021 shortlist for the Poker Hall of Fame. He reflected on the controversial elimination of the Supernova Elite program, stating that it was a mistake. “I think that eliminating Supernova Elite was wrong, and it would not have happened if Mark and myself were still in charge,” he said.
Scheinberg believes that PokerStars' success was due to a team of smart and hardworking people. “I am incredibly proud of the team we had at Stars, with very smart and hardworking people who made the company what it became,” he revealed. He also hopes to play at the World Series of Poker (WSOP) in 2022.

Argus RivenI've spent years at the tables — cash and tournaments — and just as long shaping poker copy behind the scenes: room reviews, bonus fine print, tournament notes. At PokerInsider I write the way I wish more sites would: clear structure, honest trade-offs, no hype. Whether you're new or already grinding, I care about what the offer actually costs you — rake, variance, and the fine print — and I treat responsible play as part of the job, not a footnote.
