Indonesia intensified fight against illegal gambling and fraud
The Indonesian government is intensifying efforts against crimes such as illegal gambling, money laundering, and online fraud.
Previously, the country focused on blocking illegal gambling websites, but now law enforcement agencies, state agencies, and financial institutions will cooperate more closely to combat such crimes.
According to the Ministry of Communication and Information Technology (Komdigi), from October 2024 to July of this year, approximately 3.7 million websites with illegal gambling content were blocked, and Komdigi submitted 38,000 reports on accounts linked to online gambling, after which about 32,500 such accounts were closed.
Minister Hafid states that Komdigi will closely cooperate with the Bank of Indonesia and the Financial Services Authority (OJK), and also plans to improve communication with law enforcement agencies and expand the fight against money laundering, tax evasion, and the use of multi‑accounts.
In addition to fighting online gambling, the government will counter fraud, fraud, and other internet crimes, encouraging financial institutions to improve KYC policies and flag suspicious transactions.

Argus RivenI've spent years at the tables — cash and tournaments — and just as long shaping poker copy behind the scenes: room reviews, bonus fine print, tournament notes. At PokerInsider I write the way I wish more sites would: clear structure, honest trade-offs, no hype. Whether you're new or already grinding, I care about what the offer actually costs you — rake, variance, and the fine print — and I treat responsible play as part of the job, not a footnote.
