Hustler Casino Faces Backlash Over Cancelled $250K Guarantee
Hustler Casino has found itself in hot water after cancelling a $250K tournament guarantee, sparking outrage from the poker community. The Los Angeles card room faced severe backlash, with prominent figures like Doug Polk weighing in.
Doug Polk, a well-known figure in the poker world, criticized Hustler Casino's decision, drawing comparisons to the Lodge Poker Club, which lost $625K in unmet guarantees during May but honored their commitments. Hustler Casino's General Manager, Shaun Yaple, attributed the cancellation to a larger event occurring on the same day, a justification that was met with skepticism and disbelief from the community.
In response to the intense criticism, Hustler Casino took steps to make amends. All players who entered the event were refunded their buy-in fees, and qualifiers for Day 2 were offered a freeroll for the prize fund that had been built. Additionally, the casino plans to host a special event next month, featuring some big names from the live stream and adding $50,000 to the prize pool.

Argus RivenI've spent years at the tables — cash and tournaments — and just as long shaping poker copy behind the scenes: room reviews, bonus fine print, tournament notes. At PokerInsider I write the way I wish more sites would: clear structure, honest trade-offs, no hype. Whether you're new or already grinding, I care about what the offer actually costs you — rake, variance, and the fine print — and I treat responsible play as part of the job, not a footnote.
