High Stakes Poker: Sam Soverel's Big Win and Randall Emmett's Triumphant Outburst
The third night of High Stakes Poker produced some big clashes on the felt. The $200-$400 no-limit cash game featured a series of coolers that resulted in six-figure losses for three of the game’s six players. Sam Soverel turned his $100,000 buy-in into $389,900. He was joined in the black by fellow high roller Chino Rheem, and film producer Randall Emmett, whose excitable outbursts made the highlight reel. After winning a three-way all in towards the end of the session, Emmett proclaimed, “I beat the wizards! This fucking fish!”
Rick Salomon was down $163,700 by the end of the night. Dean Geistlinger, a music executive credited with discovering Eminem, and Hollywood director Nick Cassavetes both lost their $100,000 buy in and opted not to reload.

Argus RivenI've spent years at the tables — cash and tournaments — and just as long shaping poker copy behind the scenes: room reviews, bonus fine print, tournament notes. At PokerInsider I write the way I wish more sites would: clear structure, honest trade-offs, no hype. Whether you're new or already grinding, I care about what the offer actually costs you — rake, variance, and the fine print — and I treat responsible play as part of the job, not a footnote.
