The Hendon Mob: The Legendary Poker Group from London
The Hendon Mob, a group of poker players from Hendon, London, gained fame in the late 20th century. The group included Ross and Barney Boatman, Joe Bevers, and Ram Vaswani.
Ross Boatman was a known actor in England, famous for his role as a firefighter in the TV series London Burning. He declined an offer from Guy Ritchie to act in the film Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels. Barney Boatman taught his brother Ross how to play poker. The Hendon Mob played in various casinos and home games in London.
The Hendon Mob participated in the first televised poker show Late Night Poker, which aired from 1999 to 2002. The Hendon Mob's website, launched in 2001, initially featured blogs, news, articles, and a forum before focusing on tournament results. The Hendon Mob signed a contract with Prima Poker in 2004-2005, receiving $2,000,000 for tournament buy-ins in exchange for promoting the room. The Hendon Mob's largest prize was $1 million, won by Joe Bevers in the 2007 Poker Million VI tournament.

Argus RivenI've spent years at the tables — cash and tournaments — and just as long shaping poker copy behind the scenes: room reviews, bonus fine print, tournament notes. At PokerInsider I write the way I wish more sites would: clear structure, honest trade-offs, no hype. Whether you're new or already grinding, I care about what the offer actually costs you — rake, variance, and the fine print — and I treat responsible play as part of the job, not a footnote.
