Gus Hansen Returns to Poker: 'I Missed the Action'
Gus Hansen, a prominent figure in the poker world during the early years of the poker boom, has made a triumphant return to the game. Known for his significant wins in World Poker Tour tournaments and his heroics in the EPT series, Hansen has been a notable name in the poker community. He even had his own poker room, which he later sold to Betfair, and became the face of Full Tilt Poker.
After the Black Friday storm, Hansen signed a new contract with Full Tilt Poker alongside Tom Dwan and Victor Bloom. However, the new owners of FTP from the company ‘Amaya’ chose a different path and parted ways with their professionals. Hansen then took a break from poker, during which he lost several million dollars in cash games online on Full Tilt Poker and PokerStars. He announced that he wanted to take a few months off from poker. This hiatus seems to have ended as Hansen returned to the poker scene in August 2016, playing mixed games in Las Vegas with Phil Ivey, Patrick Antonius, and Daniel Negreanu.
Hansen also discussed his plans for the future, mentioning his intention to participate in the Aussie Millions tournament in early 2017. He also touched on the possibility of returning to streaming or commenting on poker, citing his experience with Gus.tv. Additionally, Hansen commented on the Big One for One Drop Extravaganza, expressing his views on the ban on professionals and the exclusion of satellites and side events. He also shared his experience qualifying for the 2012 One Drop tournament through a $25,000 satellite.

Argus RivenI've spent years at the tables — cash and tournaments — and just as long shaping poker copy behind the scenes: room reviews, bonus fine print, tournament notes. At PokerInsider I write the way I wish more sites would: clear structure, honest trade-offs, no hype. Whether you're new or already grinding, I care about what the offer actually costs you — rake, variance, and the fine print — and I treat responsible play as part of the job, not a footnote.
