GGPoker Bans Winning Players Citing New UK Gambling Laws
GGPoker has come under fire for allegedly using new UK gambling laws to ban winning players. British poker pro Andy Wool was banned from playing despite providing documentation showing he had more than enough funds to play $100 average games. He had requested deposit limits of $1,000 a day, $5,000 a week, and $6,000 a month.
This is not an isolated incident. German mid/high-stakes regular Tobias Duthweiler had his account closed and $180,000 confiscated after he started winning. Other players have also reported similar issues. Andy ‘wiisssppppaa’ Taylor had his deposit limit reduced to $200 a day despite providing proof of funds. Ryan Hutchison was told he could not afford an increase in deposit limits despite showing account balances of over $100,000.
GGPoker has stated that they are following strict safer gambling measures, but many players believe this is a deliberate strategy to favor recreational players over winning professionals.

Argus RivenI've spent years at the tables — cash and tournaments — and just as long shaping poker copy behind the scenes: room reviews, bonus fine print, tournament notes. At PokerInsider I write the way I wish more sites would: clear structure, honest trade-offs, no hype. Whether you're new or already grinding, I care about what the offer actually costs you — rake, variance, and the fine print — and I treat responsible play as part of the job, not a footnote.
