Gas Hansen Secures First Bracelet at WSOPE with Thrilling Victory
Gas Hansen made history by winning his first bracelet at the World Series of Poker Europe (WSOPE) by defeating Jim Collopi in a thrilling heads-up match. The match, which was initially planned to be postponed until November, was decided to be played on Sunday instead. The players started the match with stacks of 1,920,000 and blinds at 8,000/16,000.
In the fourth hand, Collopi raised from the big blind, and Hansen called. The flop was 6d 5s 3d, and both players checked. The turn was 9c, and Collopi bet 184,000, which Hansen called. The river was Jd, and Collopi bet 450,000. After a long pause, Hansen called. Collopi showed As Ac, and Hansen had 2c 2h, making him the chip leader with 2,540,000 chips.
In the final hand, the blinds were at 20,000/40,000. Hansen raised 91,000, and Collopi went all-in with 1,200,000. Hansen, after much thought, called. Collopi had Ks 4s, while Hansen had 4h 4d Js 5c 6d Ts 3d. Jim Collopi finished in second place, earning £178,211, while Gas Hansen won £288,409.

Argus RivenI've spent years at the tables — cash and tournaments — and just as long shaping poker copy behind the scenes: room reviews, bonus fine print, tournament notes. At PokerInsider I write the way I wish more sites would: clear structure, honest trade-offs, no hype. Whether you're new or already grinding, I care about what the offer actually costs you — rake, variance, and the fine print — and I treat responsible play as part of the job, not a footnote.
