FTX Founder Sam Bankman-Fried Arrested in Bahamas: What Happens Next?
Sam Bankman-Fried, the founder of FTX, was arrested in the Bahamas on December 12, following an extradition request from the United States.
The arrest came just a day before he was due to testify in front of the House Financial Services Committee over the $32 billion collapse of FTX. The Bahamas and the United States have a shared interest in holding accountable all individuals associated with FTX who may have betrayed the public trust and broken the law.
The Bahamas will continue its own regulatory and criminal investigations into the collapse of FTX, with the continued cooperation of its law enforcement and regulatory partners in the United States and elsewhere. The charges include conspiracy to commit wire fraud and securities fraud, as well as standalone charges of securities fraud, wire fraud and money laundering. The New York Times reported that the charges are likely just the beginning of what will certainly become one of the most followed legal cases in the world.

Argus RivenI've spent years at the tables — cash and tournaments — and just as long shaping poker copy behind the scenes: room reviews, bonus fine print, tournament notes. At PokerInsider I write the way I wish more sites would: clear structure, honest trade-offs, no hype. Whether you're new or already grinding, I care about what the offer actually costs you — rake, variance, and the fine print — and I treat responsible play as part of the job, not a footnote.
