Exlead's Incredible Poker Marathon: From $5 to $10,000 in Two Months
Exlead, a Russian poker player, embarked on an ambitious journey to build a bankroll from $5 to $10,000 in just two months. His goal was not only to achieve this feat but also to motivate other players, showing that anyone can achieve their goals in poker.
Exlead started his marathon on GipsyTeam and also created a thread on Pokerstrategy. Despite facing skepticism from users, he continued his marathon despite the criticism. His initial bankroll reached $788.59 on the 11th day but dropped to $346.67 after a two-day downswing. However, Exlead's determination paid off, and he reached his goal of $10,000 on the 59th day.
Exlead began playing poker about 2 years before his marathon, starting with freerolls on Full Tilt. His first significant win was $55 from two freeroll placements. He then transitioned to single-table sit-and-go tournaments and grew his bankroll to around $5,000. In March 2010, Exlead transitioned to Multi-Table Tournaments (MTT) and doubled his bankroll within two months.

Argus RivenI've spent years at the tables — cash and tournaments — and just as long shaping poker copy behind the scenes: room reviews, bonus fine print, tournament notes. At PokerInsider I write the way I wish more sites would: clear structure, honest trade-offs, no hype. Whether you're new or already grinding, I care about what the offer actually costs you — rake, variance, and the fine print — and I treat responsible play as part of the job, not a footnote.
