Ex-Compliance Director Sues Resorts World Las Vegas Over Firing
Preston Banks, the former Compliance Director at Resorts World Las Vegas, has filed a lawsuit against the casino, alleging he was fired after reporting suspicious gambling activities. Banks began working at the property in September 2022 and discovered suspicious activity involving a group of international gamblers from Argentina later that year. The lawsuit alleges that the customers’ sources of funds could not be verified because the businesses listed on their casino credit applications did not exist or could not be located.
In 2023, Banks asked supervisors and the property’s anti-money laundering (AML) committee to ban third-party marker payments by three customers. The scheme involved between 60 and 150 gamblers in 2024, including players from Mexico, Paraguay, Uruguay, Italy, and Spain. The lawsuit points to suspicious betting activity that should have raised money-laundering concerns. In total, staff filed more than 50 suspicious activity reports by September 2024.
The property banned 28 people and referred those players’ accounts to the Clark County District Attorney’s Office for collection of about $12 million in unpaid casino credit. Banks filed a whistleblower-retaliation complaint with the U.S. Department of Labor’s Occupational Safety and Health Administration under the Anti-Money Laundering Act of 2020. The Nevada Gaming Control Board fined the casino $10.5 million in March 2025 for anti-money laundering violations.

Argus RivenI've spent years at the tables — cash and tournaments — and just as long shaping poker copy behind the scenes: room reviews, bonus fine print, tournament notes. At PokerInsider I write the way I wish more sites would: clear structure, honest trade-offs, no hype. Whether you're new or already grinding, I care about what the offer actually costs you — rake, variance, and the fine print — and I treat responsible play as part of the job, not a footnote.
