ESPT Barcelona Poker Tournament Sees Record Participation and Pro Changes
The ESPT Barcelona tournament began with 372 players and quickly surpassed 600, potentially reaching over 1,000 participants. The event is part of a two-week poker festival combining the Estrellas Poker Tour and the European Poker Tour, organized by PokerStars.
Thomas Butzhammer led the first day with 184,000 points, followed by Samuel Bernabéu with 180,000 points. The high participation and competitive play have made this edition of the ESPT Barcelona particularly exciting.
In other news, Viktor Blom, known as “Isildur1”, left the PokerStars Team Pro after mutual agreement. The 21-year-old Swedish player, who has achieved several victories, including the SuperStar Showdown, the Super High Roller of 100,000$ buy-in at the PCA Bahamas 2012, and two wins in the SCOOP 2012, will no longer represent PokerStars.

Argus RivenI've spent years at the tables — cash and tournaments — and just as long shaping poker copy behind the scenes: room reviews, bonus fine print, tournament notes. At PokerInsider I write the way I wish more sites would: clear structure, honest trade-offs, no hype. Whether you're new or already grinding, I care about what the offer actually costs you — rake, variance, and the fine print — and I treat responsible play as part of the job, not a footnote.
