Entain Sells Stake in CEE Venture, Meta Eyes Prediction Markets
Entain, a major player in the gambling industry, is selling a 20% stake in its Central and Eastern Europe venture to EMMA Capital. The deal is expected to bring in around €425m, with most of that paid when the sale closes. Completion is anticipated in the fourth quarter of 2026, assuming regulators approve it.
Entain’s CEO Stella David hinted that the company might not stop at this sale. The company is exploring strategic options for the rest of its share, with a full exit looking likely. This move is seen as a wider reshaping of the business, driven by the increasingly expensive and demanding UK market, which includes higher levies and tougher operating pressures.
In other news, Meta’s CEO Mark Zuckerberg has reportedly asked teams at Meta to explore a platform inspired by Kalshi and Polymarket. The platform may not offer real-money trading and instead use a video-game-style point system, which could help Meta avoid scrutiny related to gambling. With approximately 3.56bn users across the globe, Meta’s entry into prediction markets could be significant.

Argus RivenI've spent years at the tables — cash and tournaments — and just as long shaping poker copy behind the scenes: room reviews, bonus fine print, tournament notes. At PokerInsider I write the way I wish more sites would: clear structure, honest trade-offs, no hype. Whether you're new or already grinding, I care about what the offer actually costs you — rake, variance, and the fine print — and I treat responsible play as part of the job, not a footnote.
