DraftKings' Electric Poker: Can These Three Changes Revive It?
DraftKings introduced Electric Poker in late 2024, initially launching in Michigan, followed by Pennsylvania in October 2024 and New Jersey in March 2025. The game featured an ultra-fast blind structure, three-handed play, randomized prizes, and mandatory all-ins after three levels of play. However, Electric Poker’s revenue has fallen to just 5% of the initial numbers, raising questions about its future.
One of the main issues players have cited is the mandatory all-in format. This feature, unique to Electric Poker, forces players to go all-in every hand once they enter “Electric Mode.” Many players dislike this format, as it diminishes the skill aspect of the game and makes it feel more like gambling. To address this, DraftKings could remove the mandatory all-in provision and create Electric Poker games more similar to regular jackpot SNGs available at other sites.
Another challenge is the placement of Electric Poker within the DraftKings casino section. Electric Poker is a peer-to-peer poker game, not played against the house, and should not be bunched up with casino games like Ultimate Texas Hold’em, Casino Stud, and Three Card Poker. DraftKings could give Electric Poker an exclusive place in the casino lobby, away from all the gambling games, to attract more serious poker players. Additionally, merging the player pools of New Jersey, Pennsylvania, and Michigan could enhance liquidity and make games start faster, potentially leading to more players sticking around to play many games in one sitting.

Argus RivenI've spent years at the tables — cash and tournaments — and just as long shaping poker copy behind the scenes: room reviews, bonus fine print, tournament notes. At PokerInsider I write the way I wish more sites would: clear structure, honest trade-offs, no hype. Whether you're new or already grinding, I care about what the offer actually costs you — rake, variance, and the fine print — and I treat responsible play as part of the job, not a footnote.
