Douglas Polk Mocks CNN for Calling Maria Konnikova a Top Poker Player
Douglas Polk, a popular American poker player, recently took to Twitter to criticize an article from CNN Health. The article in question named Maria Konnikova, an American poker player of Russian origin, as a top poker player.
Polk shared a screenshot of the article's headline, which read "How to account for all risks during a pandemic? A top poker player will tell you everything." He followed this with a screenshot from Hendonmob, showing Konnikova's live tournament profit of slightly over $311,000.
Liv Boerie, another poker player, defended Konnikova in the comments. Boerie stated that Konnikova never called herself a top poker player and that the mainstream media wrote that for the article's promotion. Boerie also noted that Konnikova is indeed a top poker writer.

Argus RivenI've spent years at the tables — cash and tournaments — and just as long shaping poker copy behind the scenes: room reviews, bonus fine print, tournament notes. At PokerInsider I write the way I wish more sites would: clear structure, honest trade-offs, no hype. Whether you're new or already grinding, I care about what the offer actually costs you — rake, variance, and the fine print — and I treat responsible play as part of the job, not a footnote.
