Doug Polk and Mike Matusow Set for High-Stakes Poker Showdown
Poker enthusiasts are buzzing with excitement as Doug Polk and Mike Matusow have agreed to terms for a high-stakes heads-up showdown. The match, set for The Lodge Card Club, will feature $1,000/$2,000 stakes in Omaha 8 or Stud 8.
The agreement came after Mike Matusow proposed the idea of a coaching site for Omaha Hi/Lo, Stud Hi/Lo, or mixed games. Doug Polk challenged Mike Matusow to a high-stakes poker match after Matusow's tweet about coaching. Matusow agreed to the match but was against having the match streamed and analyzed.
If the match doesn't happen, other players are ready to step in. Dan Cates offered to play Doug Polk in a heads-up match if Matusow doesn't go through with the challenge. Shaun Deeb asked for an open invite to play heads-up mixed games if Matusow doesn’t wire the money over.

Argus RivenI've spent years at the tables — cash and tournaments — and just as long shaping poker copy behind the scenes: room reviews, bonus fine print, tournament notes. At PokerInsider I write the way I wish more sites would: clear structure, honest trade-offs, no hype. Whether you're new or already grinding, I care about what the offer actually costs you — rake, variance, and the fine print — and I treat responsible play as part of the job, not a footnote.
