David Peters Wins $217,800 at US Poker Open Event 7

David Peters emerged victorious at the seventh event of the 2021 US Poker Open, securing a prize of $217,800. This win marks a significant achievement for Peters, who is now in contention to repeat his overall Championship win from 2019.

The event set a new record with 99 entries, making it one of the most competitive tournaments in the series. By the time the final table of eight players was reached, they were already well into the paid spots. Kristina Holst made history as the first female to reach a final table in this year’s series, but her run ended early when she exited in eighth place.

Dan Shak, who had previously finished as the runner-up in the opening event, was the next to depart when he lost a race against Peters. Peters then eliminated Ivan Zufic in sixth place. Alex Foxen, a regular at highroller tournaments, finished in fifth place when his short-stack shove ran into Jared Jaffee’s suited big slick. Brock Wilson fell in fourth, followed by Andrew Lichtenberger in third, who pocketed $118,800. The final battle was between Peters and Jaffee, with Peters ultimately winning the top prize of $217,800.

I've spent years at the tables — cash and tournaments — and just as long shaping poker copy behind the scenes: room reviews, bonus fine print, tournament notes. At PokerInsider I write the way I wish more sites would: clear structure, honest trade-offs, no hype. Whether you're new or already grinding, I care about what the offer actually costs you — rake, variance, and the fine print — and I treat responsible play as part of the job, not a footnote.
