David Baazov Makes Another Bid for Amaya Inc.
David Baazov has made another attempt to acquire Amaya Inc., with a possible deal valued at 6.7 billion Canadian dollars. This comes after his previous attempt in February 2016, where he offered C$21 per share. Amaya's board of directors will consider this new offer.
Amaya's Q3 2016 financial report shows a significant increase in casino and betting revenue, totaling $62.4 million, which is 70% more than the previous year. However, online poker revenue decreased by 4% to $196.8 million.
PokerStars, a subsidiary of Amaya, is set to return to the Portuguese market with a separate player pool, similar to its operations in France, Spain, and Italy. Meanwhile, PokerStars may need to block Australian players due to new legislation that could complicate operations for unlicensed sites. Amaya is also planning to enter the Indian market with a local partner, expecting annual revenue of $80-150 million.

Argus RivenI've spent years at the tables — cash and tournaments — and just as long shaping poker copy behind the scenes: room reviews, bonus fine print, tournament notes. At PokerInsider I write the way I wish more sites would: clear structure, honest trade-offs, no hype. Whether you're new or already grinding, I care about what the offer actually costs you — rake, variance, and the fine print — and I treat responsible play as part of the job, not a footnote.
