Daniel Negreanu on Poker's Future, Past Experiences, and Community Insights

Daniel Negreanu, a renowned poker player, recently shared his insights on various topics related to the poker world. When asked about the second season of Game of Gold, Negreanu mentioned that it is unlikely to happen, but things could change.

Negreanu also discussed the impact of the new 'Big Beautiful Bill' on offline MTT in America. He stated that allowing gamblers to write off only 90% of expenses could potentially kill offline MTT. He believes that this part of the bill will likely be reviewed, giving it a 72% chance of being changed.

Negreanu recounted an experience where he stayed in a named suite at the Kings Casino for only one night due to the smell of smoke from a neighboring room. He mentioned that his wife, Amanda, hates the smell of smoke, which led to their request for a room change.

When asked about Choice Centre, an organization he once promoted, Negreanu clarified that it is not a sect but a course on emotional control. He stated that many of his acquaintances have benefited from the course, describing it as a positive experience.

Negreanu advised beginners to start with theory and then move on to old-school methods to develop intuition. He believes that strong players still make significant money, but the average player faces more challenges due to the increased skill level.

Negreanu hopes that mix games will eventually be introduced on GG. He also mentioned that he was the chip leader in the top 12 of the 2000 WSOP Main Event but busted 11th after a big hand against Carlos Mortensen.

Negreanu expressed that marriage has positively impacted his life, making him appreciate coming home every day.

I've spent years at the tables — cash and tournaments — and just as long shaping poker copy behind the scenes: room reviews, bonus fine print, tournament notes. At PokerInsider I write the way I wish more sites would: clear structure, honest trade-offs, no hype. Whether you're new or already grinding, I care about what the offer actually costs you — rake, variance, and the fine print — and I treat responsible play as part of the job, not a footnote.
