Daniel Negreanu Criticizes Small Antes in Poker Tournaments

Daniel Negreanu, a renowned poker professional, has voiced his concerns about the structure of small antes in poker tournaments. In a blog post, he criticized the use of small antes, stating that they negatively impact the game post-flop, reducing the role of skill and increasing the role of luck.

Negreanu highlighted that small antes increase the number of M and allow players with short stacks to sit longer, which can lead to a less dynamic and more luck-dependent game. He also noted that Matt Savage is one of the few who understands the importance of proper ante structure in tournaments.

Negreanu further criticized the ante structure in EPT and NAPT tournaments, suggesting changes to specific levels. He believes that the ante should be at least 1/4 of the small blind, and ideally between 1/5 and 1/3. He also mentioned that he has previously criticized the structure of tournaments at the Belaggio and is open to discussing his views with those who disagree.
