Daniel Negreanu's 2022 WSOP: A $1.1 Million Loss and No Final Tables
Daniel Negreanu's 2022 World Series of Poker (WSOP) campaign was marked by a significant loss of $1.1 million. The Canadian poker pro, known for his extensive career, had only 12 cashes, with four of those coming online. Only six of those cashes were five figures, making it a tough summer for the GGPoker ambassador.
Negreanu did not reach a single final table, a first since 2011. One of the most notable moments was his bust out from the $250,000 Super High Roller. He lost following two bullets to a runner-runner flush against David Peters. The incident led to a tantrum where he threw a selfie stick at the wall and slammed his vlogging equipment into the table, prompting complaints from Justin Bonomo.
Despite the setbacks, Negreanu reflected on his performance, stating that he plays better every WSOP with fewer and fewer mistakes. His process involves evaluating what worked and what didn't work in terms of preparation. He aims to feel rested and at his best, improving every year on several key principles. The fight for a seventh bracelet continues for Negreanu, who has not won one since 2011.

Argus RivenI've spent years at the tables — cash and tournaments — and just as long shaping poker copy behind the scenes: room reviews, bonus fine print, tournament notes. At PokerInsider I write the way I wish more sites would: clear structure, honest trade-offs, no hype. Whether you're new or already grinding, I care about what the offer actually costs you — rake, variance, and the fine print — and I treat responsible play as part of the job, not a footnote.
