Daniel Cates Reflects on Black Friday and Girah Scandal: 'Poker is a Solvable Game'
Daniel Cates, known as Jungleman, has had a tumultuous year. The poker pro moved to England in August 2011 to play online poker on European sites, citing the Black Friday incident as a significant factor in his decision. Cates mentioned that he has been traveling to various tournaments and events since his move, including trips to the United States for a TV show and to Vienna for a seminar.
Cates expressed that the Black Friday incident negatively impacted his long-term projects and financial transfers. He believes that the poker scandal involving Girah was overblown and that he and Hasib Kursehi received more criticism than they deserved. He reflected on his past comments and the importance of being more understanding towards others' mistakes.
Regarding the ongoing durrrr challenge, Cates noted that Tom Dwan has not shown much interest in continuing the match. Cates mentioned that he agreed to the durrrr challenge because he believes he is the favorite and it is a good event for his career.

Argus RivenI've spent years at the tables — cash and tournaments — and just as long shaping poker copy behind the scenes: room reviews, bonus fine print, tournament notes. At PokerInsider I write the way I wish more sites would: clear structure, honest trade-offs, no hype. Whether you're new or already grinding, I care about what the offer actually costs you — rake, variance, and the fine print — and I treat responsible play as part of the job, not a footnote.
