Crown Perth Casino Faces Scrutiny for Organized Crime Links and COVID Violations
Crown Perth Casino is under investigation over links to organised crime. Deputy Police Commissioner Col Blanch told a royal commission that many of the high-rollers in the casino are laundering money through the Hawala system to avoid detection from regulators.
The Hawala banking system makes it almost impossible to catch criminals, and a perfect opportunity to launder money. Blanch explained to the commission how easy it was for organised crime figures to hide money within VIP business in a casino.
Crown Perth Casino has been caught red-handed ignoring Covid-19 restrictions. Melissa Smith, Crown Perth Casino’s director of casino operations for gaming machines, testified that the invite-only Pearl Room didn’t close as ordered by the government during the June/July lockdown.

Argus RivenI've spent years at the tables — cash and tournaments — and just as long shaping poker copy behind the scenes: room reviews, bonus fine print, tournament notes. At PokerInsider I write the way I wish more sites would: clear structure, honest trade-offs, no hype. Whether you're new or already grinding, I care about what the offer actually costs you — rake, variance, and the fine print — and I treat responsible play as part of the job, not a footnote.
