Club Fortune North: Opening of a Casino in Las Vegas
Reconstruction and Reopening
After months of renovation, the new owners plan to reopen the former Poker Palace in North Las Vegas. A soft opening is scheduled for July 19, with the full opening three days later on July 22.
The casino closed in August 2024 and was acquired by Truckee Gaming of Sparks, Nevada, for $20 million. Original plans had called for an opening in April, but the renovation delayed the process.
Changes and New Opportunities
The property will be renamed Club Fortune North to complement another similar Truckee property in Henderson, located about 15 miles south‑east of Las Vegas. Guests will have access to new slot machines, modern gaming systems, a new bar and an expanded restaurant, as well as an enlarged kitchen, fully modernized restrooms, and a complete interior and exterior renovation.
In addition, Boomer’s Sportsbook will operate on the premises for sports betting, although there will be no poker room. The former Poker Palace opened in 1974 on Las Vegas Boulevard North near Nellis Air Force Base and catered to local players with low limits and affordable food and drinks.
Club Fortune North becomes the 11th casino in Truckee Gaming’s portfolio, most of which are located in northern Nevada. Upon acquisition, the company retained a large portion of the 126 employees.

Argus RivenI've spent years at the tables — cash and tournaments — and just as long shaping poker copy behind the scenes: room reviews, bonus fine print, tournament notes. At PokerInsider I write the way I wish more sites would: clear structure, honest trade-offs, no hype. Whether you're new or already grinding, I care about what the offer actually costs you — rake, variance, and the fine print — and I treat responsible play as part of the job, not a footnote.
