CityCenter: The Heart of Las Vegas Opens After Delays
CityCenter, a $11 billion project by MGM, opened on December 16, 2009, after being delayed by financial issues and labor disputes. The complex is located on a 31-hectare site in the middle of the Las Vegas Strip.
The project was initially planned to cost $4 billion, but continuous design changes and rising prices increased the cost to $11 billion, making it the most expensive private real estate project in the USA. Dubai World sued MGM Mirage for breach of contract and refused to pay $200 million due to the financial crisis. Six workers died on the construction site of CityCenter between 2007 and 2008.
The Harmon hotel was reduced from 49 to 25 floors due to construction defects. The Aria casino will feature a poker room with 24 cash game tables and two daily tournaments. The poker room in Aria is designed to be an upgrade from Bobby's Room in Bellagio, with natural lighting, leather, and wood.

Argus RivenI've spent years at the tables — cash and tournaments — and just as long shaping poker copy behind the scenes: room reviews, bonus fine print, tournament notes. At PokerInsider I write the way I wish more sites would: clear structure, honest trade-offs, no hype. Whether you're new or already grinding, I care about what the offer actually costs you — rake, variance, and the fine print — and I treat responsible play as part of the job, not a footnote.
