Christian Pedersen Wins WSOP Europe High Roller: Defeats Punsri for $690,000
Christian Pedersen made history by winning his first live poker tournament title at the World Series of Poker Europe High Roller. The Danish poker pro, known for his online cash game prowess, triumphed over a field of 359 entries in the €8,400 GGMillion$ no-limit hold’em high roller event.
Pedersen's victory came after a intense heads-up battle against Thai poker star Punnat Punsri. Pedersen earned $690,000 and his first gold bracelet, marking his largest recorded score. This win significantly boosted Pedersen's career earnings, pushing him close to $1 million in total cashes. Additionally, Pedersen secured 1,200 Card Player Player of the Year points, moving him within reach of the top 100 in the 2026 POY standings.
Punsri, who has accumulated nearly $3.4 million in POY earnings, finished as the runner-up. This was Punsri's ninth final table of the year and his third time finishing second in a bracelet event. Despite his impressive performance, Punsri remains in search of his first WSOP bracelet. The tournament, held at the Hilton Prague, featured a prize pool of $3,170,000 with the top 54 finishers earning a share. Notable players like Michael Watson, Mehdi Chaoui, and Zackary Estes also made significant impacts during the event.

Argus RivenI've spent years at the tables — cash and tournaments — and just as long shaping poker copy behind the scenes: room reviews, bonus fine print, tournament notes. At PokerInsider I write the way I wish more sites would: clear structure, honest trade-offs, no hype. Whether you're new or already grinding, I care about what the offer actually costs you — rake, variance, and the fine print — and I treat responsible play as part of the job, not a footnote.
