Chris Moorman's $1 Million Bankroll Blunder: A Wild Poker Tale
Chris Moorman, known as moorman1, is the winningest online English poker pro of all time with close to $20 million in MTT earnings. However, his poker journey took a wild turn when he hit his $1 million monthly transfer limit and lost 90% of it. Moorman staked other players, including Mohsin Charania, who won a huge amount at the 2012 EPT Monte Carlo. Unfortunately, Moorman got a shock when he started transferring the winnings out for other horses to play. The message we all hate to receive – “You’ve hit your monthly transfer limit of $1million – soon appeared, and unfortunately for Chris it wasn’t a good month for the players he was staking.
“I probably only got about $100k back”, he revealed, and then it was time to dig into the reserves. “The World Series was happening...I guess I’m going all-in and started emptying my bank account.” Moorman has since focused more on his own play, winning live and online WSOP bracelets and a $1 million scoop at the 2014 WPT LA Poker Classic.
His live earnings of $6.3 million plus change may be nowhere near his $20 million online winnings, but it’s an impressive sum by anyone’s standards.

Argus RivenI've spent years at the tables — cash and tournaments — and just as long shaping poker copy behind the scenes: room reviews, bonus fine print, tournament notes. At PokerInsider I write the way I wish more sites would: clear structure, honest trade-offs, no hype. Whether you're new or already grinding, I care about what the offer actually costs you — rake, variance, and the fine print — and I treat responsible play as part of the job, not a footnote.
