Century Casinos Sells Two Alberta Racinos to Highfield Investment Group
Century Casinos has agreed to sell the racing and gaming operations of Century Mile Racetrack and Casino in Edmonton, Alberta, and Century Downs Racetrack and Casino in Calgary, Alberta to Highfield Investment Group. The acquisition has a price tag of approximately $16.4 million and is expected to close in Q4 2026 or Q1 2027.
Century Casinos will use the proceeds from the transaction to reduce indebtedness and concentrate resources on U.S. properties. Erwin Haitzmann and Peter Hoetzinger, Co-Chief Executive Officers of Century Casinos, stated that the sale is part of an ongoing strategic review process to concentrate resources on U.S. properties.
VICI Properties Inc. owns the underlying real estate of both Century Mile and Century Downs. Highfield Investment Group will replace Century Casinos and its subsidiaries in the Master Lease agreement, becoming the new tenant of those properties.

Argus RivenI've spent years at the tables — cash and tournaments — and just as long shaping poker copy behind the scenes: room reviews, bonus fine print, tournament notes. At PokerInsider I write the way I wish more sites would: clear structure, honest trade-offs, no hype. Whether you're new or already grinding, I care about what the offer actually costs you — rake, variance, and the fine print — and I treat responsible play as part of the job, not a footnote.
