Can ChatGPT Replace a Poker Coach? A Player's Honest Review
Poker player and trainer Danxooo has been using ChatGPT and Github Copilot for various tasks related to poker. He finds that while ChatGPT can be helpful in certain areas, it falls short in others, particularly in analyzing poker hands.
Danxooo explains that ChatGPT struggles with understanding the rules and context of poker games. For instance, it often forgets that only two cards from the hand can be used and misinterprets flushes. Despite multiple clarifications, ChatGPT frequently provides incorrect recommendations, making it unreliable for hand analysis. Danxooo suggests that for this purpose, it's better to post the hand on a forum or consult with a trainer.
However, Danxooo has had success using ChatGPT to create several working programs. These include a card removal effect calculator for PLO, various hand history converters, and an analyzer for hand history. He notes that while ChatGPT can handle simpler tasks, more complex programming requires additional knowledge and skills. Another user, Alexander QuantumEnigma, shares that ChatGPT can provide correct answers if prompted correctly, but it may not account for the characteristics of opponents in real game situations.

Argus RivenI've spent years at the tables — cash and tournaments — and just as long shaping poker copy behind the scenes: room reviews, bonus fine print, tournament notes. At PokerInsider I write the way I wish more sites would: clear structure, honest trade-offs, no hype. Whether you're new or already grinding, I care about what the offer actually costs you — rake, variance, and the fine print — and I treat responsible play as part of the job, not a footnote.
