BHA and Flutter Launch Innovation Summit to Revitalize Horseracing
The British Horseracing Authority (BHA) and Flutter UKI are launching a Dragons’ Den-style innovation summit to attract new fans to horseracing. The summit will take place at York Racecourse in February 2026. The summit follows a study revealing a disconnect between horseracing and young adults.
The summit will feature a shortlist of innovative tech startups pitching their ideas to industry leaders. The summit will address themes such as horse welfare, education, raceday experience, and behind-the-scenes access. Applications for the summit are open until November 23, 2025.
The summit is backed by RMG, York Racecourse, and ClimbUK. Project Beacon identified concerns among racegoers, including the wellbeing of racehorses, high costs, and difficulty understanding betting terminology. The summit aims to address challenges particularly pronounced among the 18–28 age group.
