Betway Fined £400,000 for Advertising on West Ham's Children's Page
Betway has been fined £408,915 ($443,579) by the UKGC for displaying its logo on a children's page of West Ham United Football Club’s website. The UKGC found Betway guilty of two breaches of the Social Responsibility Code of Practice (SRCP).
Betway’s logo was displayed on a webpage offering the opportunity to print a teddy bear for children to colour in between April 2020 and November 2021. A logo with a link to Betway’s webpage appeared on the ‘Young Hammers at Home’ webpage between October and November 2022. The UKGC oversees all areas of gambling in the UK.
Leanne Oxley, Gambling Commission Director of Enforcement, stated that the UKGC takes breaches of rules aimed at protecting children extremely seriously. Betway was previously fined £11.6million ($12.62million) in March 2020 for systemic historical failings in identifying and interacting with customers at risk of money laundering and problem gambling. The UKGC has fined several other companies this year, including 888, BetVictor, Genesis Global, and SkyBetting and Gaming. Entain was fined a record £17 million for offenses relating to anti-money laundering and social responsibility processes.

Argus RivenI've spent years at the tables — cash and tournaments — and just as long shaping poker copy behind the scenes: room reviews, bonus fine print, tournament notes. At PokerInsider I write the way I wish more sites would: clear structure, honest trade-offs, no hype. Whether you're new or already grinding, I care about what the offer actually costs you — rake, variance, and the fine print — and I treat responsible play as part of the job, not a footnote.
