Ansky Reflects on Poker Career and Life After Black Friday
Poker pro Ansky has been playing poker for eight years. He views poker more as a job than as a hobby, stating that he has grown from viewing it as a game to seeing it as work that requires effort to succeed.
Ansky's friends are mostly not from the poker world, and he has noticed a change in his lifestyle compared to his friends who have regular jobs. Despite this, he would not trade his poker career for anything else. Ansky has experienced both ups and downs in his poker journey, often feeling that he deserves more from his results.
Before Black Friday, Ansky experienced vertigo and was hospitalized. He lost income from DoylesRoom and DeucesCracked due to Black Friday. After the event, Ansky moved to Canada and enrolled in culinary school. He decided to attend the World Series of Poker in Las Vegas before making the move. Ansky's girlfriend lived in Toronto, making the transition easier.

Argus RivenI've spent years at the tables — cash and tournaments — and just as long shaping poker copy behind the scenes: room reviews, bonus fine print, tournament notes. At PokerInsider I write the way I wish more sites would: clear structure, honest trade-offs, no hype. Whether you're new or already grinding, I care about what the offer actually costs you — rake, variance, and the fine print — and I treat responsible play as part of the job, not a footnote.
